The Team Captains
The rights and duties of the team captains are as follows:
At least 30 minutes before the commencement of a round, the team captain must deliver to the
tournament director or to the person delegated by the latter for this purpose, a written list in a
sealed envelope giving the players of his team who will participate in the match of the said round.
If such a list has not been submitted within the time prescribed, the team can only be represented
by its players numbered 1 to 3.
The composition of a team, once submitted, can only be modified in the case of circumstances beyond
its control in which case an explanation with reasons must be furnished. It will be for the chief
referee to accept or reject any request for a change in the composition of a team by reason of
circumstances beyond its control.
The captain is authorized, in his capacity as captain, to remain in the space reserved for the
players, but it will be his duty to see that those of the team's players who have finished their
games do not remain in the space referred to above.
At the end of play, the captain shall be responsible for reporting the result to the tournament
direction as well as providing the latter with score sheets on which all terminated games are
legibly recorded.
The captain must abstain from any intervention during play. He is, however, entitled to advise the
players of his team to make or accept an offer of a draw or to resign a game, on condition that he
does not make any comments concerning the actual situation on the chess board and confines himself
to giving only brief information which can in no way be interpreted as an opinion expressed on the
course of the game. Any communication between the captain and the players must be made under the
control of the steward.
The captain is authorized to nominate a substitute but is required to do this in writing to the
tournament direction.
Only the captain is authorized to present protests or any claims on the part of the players.
Team Captions should make sure all your team players are sitting on one side.

name.

score sheet from any of the assisting staff since its always advisable to write your game in order
to avoid disputes.
We will not show pairings OR registrations to anyone before they are officially posted in the
tournament hall.
If any player fails to be present at the table as paired after each round has started for 30
minutes, he/she will lose the game by default. If both players of a match do not show up, both will
get no points from the round. Any player who gets a bye for the round need not show up at the table.
Both players have a free hour for each game. After one hour has elapsed after the beginning of each
round, each player will have 15 minutes to finish the game.
If you touch a piece, you must move it. If you touch an opponentÂs piece, you must take it.If a
piece or pawn is picked up and dropped onto a new square, the move is complete.
If there is a dispute, or if a player wishes to make a claim of any kind, the player should advise
your opponent of your claim, and summon a director. When in doubt, ask the tournament director. Note
that if you inform later when the move is over or after the game is not valid.
To claim a draw because the same position has occurred three times or by the 50-move rule, the
player must have a reasonably complete score sheet.
If your opponent make an illegal move, stop your game & raise your hand to call for arbiter to
settle the dispute right away. Informing of illegal move after few moves wonÂt be valid. The player
must also move the piece that he touched, if legal. If someone makes an illegal move during the
game, the position may be put back to what it was before the illegal move.
Both players are responsible for reporting the results of the game on the wall chart (pairing
sheet). Failure to report your result may lead to a double forfeit.
Any player from the team withdraw from the tournament or do not want to play next round, notify your
team head 30 minutes before the next round begins & it would their responsibility to make sure
other player is replaced in their place. Any players who do not withdraw properly will NOT be paired
for future rounds and will be fined 500/- and barred from future tournaments until the fine is paid.
Any player absent from the playing room or board for more than fifteen minutes without permission
from the tournament director may have his or her game forfeited due to unsportsmanlike conduct (at
Directors discretion).
All players are to conduct themselves in an orderly fashion, and to compete in a spirit of good
sportsmanship; any player who does not will be asked to leave.
